“The Original” Virginia Beach Hockey Camp

Camp Location: The National Field Hockey Training Center next to the Sportsplex. Camp will take place on two turf fields.

Dates: July 19 – July 23, 2010 (Rain or Shine!) Costs: Youth Camp (ages 8-11) meet Monday-Thurs, 9:00-11:30 am. Friday 9:00am-12:00pm Cost: $150.00.

Senior Camp (ages 11-18) 6th- 12th Grade…meet Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Cost: $200.00

Equipment: stick, ball, sneakers or turf shoes (no cleats!), mouth guard, shin guards, water jug, and towel. Dress in athletic shorts and shirts. Please NO halter tops.

Dress: Wear comfortable top and shorts for camp (no halters please). You must wear a shirt! Sneakers are needed for aerobics.

Instruction: The first session will concentrate on the teaching and refinement of basic field hockey skills through the use of stationary and game situation drills. In this session beginning players are taught basic skills leading to game play. Intermediate and advanced players will be coached for technique and refinement of their playing skills. There will be many breaks throughout the afternoon. The second session will emphasize team play and game strategy. This will prepare every camper for some “game play” in the tournament play day on Friday.

Coaches: Advanced coaches will be at camp to instruct on all levels. Coaches will access each player’s ability after the first day and make necessary group level changes.

Goalies: There will be special instruction by a goalie coach as well as game play. Each girl should have their own equipment.

We have instituted through our ODU Athletic Camp Office the welcoming of individuals to attend Sessions 1 or 2. Sessions 3 and 4 are FILLED with High School teams of 16 players or more.
The ESTABLISHED residential team rate ($525) and individual rates ($545)
We will offer a TEAM RATE to any individual players who join together to make a team (i.e.–6 from one HS, 7 from another, 4 from another) of 16 or more.

Session 2: July 15-18 –8 Open Spots
Session 3: July 24-27 –FILLED
Session 4: July 29 -Aug. 1 –FILLED
